§ 3.02. Acting mayor.

The mayor shall designate, with the advice and consent of the council, an appointive officer or employee of the city to serve as acting mayor during the absence or disability of the mayor, subject always to the mayor's control and direction. If a vacancy occurs in the office of mayor, the person so designated shall exercise the powers and perform the duties of the office until a successor is elected by the council.
